Its also been tested by a major utility company, specifically the companys unit for commercial laboratory services, to ensure that it can withstand up to 45,000 volts in both wet and dry conditions. Both of these tests prove the protective-quality of the MPL48 probe.

Using the MPL48 probe, however, must be taken only as users secondary protection and not their primary or sole protection. Users must still have their personal protective equipment when working at their job sites. This is to reduce the risk of unpleasant incidents that may lead to injuries and other serious conditions.

To further improve the MPL48 probes protective quality, users must also be wary of some pre-probing practices. This includes de-energizing all power sources and inspecting the probe before use. Its also important to keep the device clean before use and before storage to keep it at prime condition. Also, users must be careful not to touch the uninsulated portions of the probe, like the shaft, during use.
